Inclusivity: Diversity and Accessibility

Diversity

Cuddesdon is a diverse and inclusive community of people from all backgrounds, churchmanship, education, abilities and life experience seeking to lead their lives together before God.

Inclusion and diversity is ingrained in all we do, and particularly in our curriculum which includes Black Theology, Engaging Difference, diverse reading lists and visiting lecturers who are leaders in this field. Former tutor, Revd Shemil Mathew and former student, Revd Joseph Fernandes, are Executive Committee members of AMEN, the Anglican Minority Ethnic Network. Former students Joseph Fernandes and Samson Kuponiyi are passionate about supporting people from underepresented groups through discernment, and can be contacted through the Church of England's Mentor Directory.

We recognise that students with disabilities may benefit from having support from an independent disabled mentor who has first-hand experience of training with us. Former student Revd Helena del Pino, who is also a mentor under the scheme for those going through the discernment process, is available to support you through your training at Cuddesdon. You can find her contact details on the Church of England's Mentor Directory.

Accessibility

Students are supported through training by a personal tutor and our chaplaincy and counselling teams. We also have a dedicated Disability and Learning Support Officer who leads a committee of staff and student representatives who meet termly:

"As a wheelchair user, I've found the College to be nothing but supportive in ensuring I can fully access both my studies and the wider life of the community.  I would highly recommend Cuddesdon as an excellent place to train as an ordinand with additional needs."
